Ceiling setting-out
Module lines and suspension points established from coordinated drawings and service positions.
Case study · Autex ceiling
Large-format acoustic ceiling modules assembled, supported and lifted in a planned sequence around lighting, sprinklers, ventilation and containment.

The challenge
The ceiling design required accurate module geometry and a practical workflow for assembly, lifting and final alignment.
I&O divided the installation into linked activities: front-end setting-out and drilling, support installation, floor-level module assembly, planned lifting and a finishing team for levelling and completion. Assembly space and material movement were managed around the live fit-out programme.
Support positions were coordinated to the approved design around building services, with threaded rod, wire suspension or unistrut support used where detailed for the installation.
Module lines and suspension points established from coordinated drawings and service positions.
Approved anchors, rod, wire and unistrut details installed to suit the coordinated design.
Smaller sections assembled in controlled work zones before combination and lifting.
Modules moved to the ceiling in a sequence aligned with access, protection and available labour.
Lighting, sprinklers, ventilation and containment considered through setting-out and installation.
Final height, joins, line and geometry checked across the completed feature ceiling.

Completed result
Setting-out and supports progressed ahead of module lifting.
Modules were built in practical sections without blocking the active site.
Completed sections moved directly into position where possible.
The suspended ceiling was levelled and checked against the coordinated architectural layout.
